【燦爛馬幫】張雯勤「走夷方」:當代泰緬馬幫貿易

雲南移民在泰緬邊區所從事的馬幫貿易,雖然是奠基於大漢中心主義「走夷方」的文化傳統心態,然而其實踐過程卻不斷呈現出不同社群間的互助、衝突與協商,凸顯出這個邊區特有的地理、政治、經濟與文化主體性,以及這個經濟活動所內涵的複雜規範和知識。

講者提出「跨境民間」(transborder popular realm)的概念來指涉、分析活動空間內(activity space)人、事、物的連結性,以及其不斷變異的時間過程;在這個概念下,民間不再被侷限於國家疆界內,中心與邊緣、合法與非法也不再是固定的二元對峙;同時,邊境是對外開放的起點,一個充滿混和、不明與創造力的場域。

【名詞解釋】
#馬幫,就是按民間約定俗成的方式組織起來的一群趕馬人及其騾馬隊的稱呼。馬幫是大西南地區特有的一種交通運輸方式,它也是茶馬古道主要的運載手段,面對險惡而隨時變化的環境、生死與共特殊的生存方式形成馬幫自己嚴格的組織和幫規、有自己幫內的習俗禁忌和行話。(摘自BAI百科:http://baike.baidu.com/view/86686.htm

#走夷方
對於雲南來說,「夷方」舊時指緬甸、泰國、印度;「廠」則是指緬甸北部的猛拱、帕敢、抹谷一帶的玉石、寶石礦山,也有少數的銀礦山。

【講者簡介】
張雯勤,中央研究院研究員,比利時魯汶大學社會文化人類學博士,研究興趣包括移民、邊境研究、族群政治與東南亞華人研究,學術出版則專注在當代泰緬雲南移民的跨境遷移歷史與生計研究。
研究的方法是立基於社會文化人類學的田野深耕,但同時也結合了歷史學研究與區域研究。
